Art Exhibit at the Department of Education
Distinguished Fellow, R Gloria Pappalardo

The Art Exhibits at the New Jersey Department of Education in Trenton sponsored by the Distinguished Fellows of AENJ, are located in the first floor conference room of the Department of Education. The room is used daily by the commissioner, state board members, district superintendents, committee members and educators, working on educational projects. It has been a wonderful venue for visual arts advocacy K-12. The exhibits have given the viewers the opportunity to see what is happening in the visual arts in all grades, in different schools  in the state. It shows the diversity and creativity that is inspired by the art educator. The art work is framed and exhibited in a professional manner. The art teachers often write a brief paragraph about their program and how it supports the goals and standards on the state and national level.

The exhibiting work is exemplary; it is not a juried presentation. The art teachers select the K-12 work to be shown which best suits the program at their school. Nothing is more exciting than to have a kindergartener’s work of art hung next to a high school student’s carefully created master piece.  Consequently a district exhibit is often very exciting and arouses a great deal of interest.
On behalf of the Distinguished Fellows, I would like to express my gratitude to the Art Educators who provided these exciting exhibits. If you are interested in exhibiting at the New Jersey Department of Education, please contact R. Gloria Pappalardo, lenpgloria@optonline.net, for details on preparation for the exhibit.  The calendar for 2010 is presently being prepared.  Piscataway Public School District will be exhibiting in January.
