Mansa K. Mussa is a visual and performing artist, arts educator, and arts consultant.  A native of Paterson, New Jersey, he has been using the camera to document the unfolding of human events for the past thirty years.  He has traveled extensively in the United States, Cuba, West Africa, South Africa, and most recently in Paris, France. He earned a BA in Media Arts/Television Production from New Jersey City University.

Mussa has been an instructor of photography and visual arts for twenty-eight years.  He currently teaches for Arts Horizons, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Newark. He has worked as an arts instructor at the Newark Museum since 1990, offering classes to children, teenagers and adults in photography, collage, dance, and bag making.

His photography classes introduce students to the power of using photography as a means of artistic expression and as a method of documenting their personal lives and family history.  The students experiment with 35mm, Polaroid, and digital cameras, and the mediums of collage and montage.  In 2006 he was a recipient of the Living Legend of Dance Award from the Cicely Tyson School in East Orange, New Jersey. He has also received two National Service-to-Youth Awards from the Boys and Girls Clubs of America.

The Middle School Division dinner is April 30, 2008 at the Doubletree Hotel. The dinner provides an opportunity for middle school teachers to meet and focus specifically on their curriculum. A mini-workshop will be provided by Mansa Mussa allowing each teacher to leave with a project.
